Celebration of Life for Shirley Burstall

We gathered a few photos of Shirley Burstall from our photo archives to make this little collage.  In the centre you will notice a plate of Christmas cookies and squares that Shirley baked for the Movie Monday event last November. Shirley was always doing things behind the scenes to make sure every event was a success while spreading her unique sense of humour and joy.  The surrounding photos are from Churchill events she supported  for the Churchill Foundation and the Sir Winston Churchill Society of Vancouver Island. Shirley will be greatly missed.

A quote by Winston Churchill made in Dundee, Scotland, on 10 October 1908, seems especially appropriate as we remember our dear friend Shirley Burstall:  "What is the use of living, if it be not to strive for noble causes and to make this muddled world a better place for those who will live in it after we are gone?  How else can we put ourselves in harmonious relation with the great verities and consolations of the infinite and the eternal?"

Family friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life to be held at the Union Club of BC, 805 Gordon Street Victoria, B.C. on Friday May 4, 2012 from 2-4 PM. A Celebration of Life will also be held at the Ranchmen’s Club in Calgary, 710 - 13th Ave S.W on Saturday May 12, 2012 from 2-4 PM. Full obituary available on Times Colonist website.
